S2000 Diary 05/10/2010 Just getting familiar

After getting the S2000 yesterday Ive been waiting to have a nice full day with it to get myself familiar, unfortunately today I ended up helping two family members with some things and as a result only got limited time with the S2000. At about 10am I headed up to Buckstone pass, I wanted to visited the MR2′s death spot, and visited my favourite roads I’ve been unable to drive along for over 8 months. My short time with the S2000 has already made me feel back at home. On the road in fast car is where I feel I should be, and finally I’ve returned faster and stronger than ever! At least that’s how dramatic it feels to me.

So first impressions of the S2000. Fast, Raw, Aggressive are a few adjective that first come to mind. Its the perfect tool for someone who enjoys driving. Wonderfully direct and responsive, agile yet stable although when the roads got greasy up on the hills, this time I made sure to respect what I was doing and I think this definitely slowed down my pace compared to what I was capable of. I do think that with more time I get with the S2000 the easier it will get for the pace to pick up. At the momment I think I’m faster In the Civic Type-R. my-s2k1

So lets compare it to the Type-R, what is similar and what is diffrent. The best way I can describe my feelings between the two cars is this. Take the Civic and then amplify everything! The sound, the power, the way it makes you feel, the performance at your disposal. Vtec impressed me with the  Civic, but the S2000 takes it up to 9000RPM and goes so beserk that I chicken out if the road is less than straight and flat. The cockpit style layout and long bonnet infront of you makes you just want to drive as if your a pilot. The other great thing to point out is with this S2000 been the GT model, the Seats the most bestest seats ever… in the whole wide world. Comfy and supportive, and visual please the eye.

Ive not had much time but did end up on the motorway with the roof down at night, this is always fun and strangly warm, abit of this and I just needed sleep due to the long day I had so drove home and here I am. I have a short vid, its short because I cant be bothered with too much editing and so on. I will go more in depth on later posts, and again its just good to be back on the road doing what I do best.

Possibly buying a new car

Today I have found A candidate for my next car. My next car has a few criteria Points it has to meet which are:

  1. Has to provide a new experience to what I have experienced in the past
  2. Fuel my passion for driving
  3. Deliver fun and give a spirited drive when ever I ask of it

Hoping to go view the car today, and I’m sure this car would be brilliant for Spirited-driving.com’s blog section as im sure people would like to know how it is to live with. It will be the best looking, most powerful, best sounding true sports car I’ve ever had so please pray to the car gods that I am able to get this car :) its going to be a good 1

Yes it is a secret for now

Formula One: Monza 2010

The weekend is here and so is the next race in the F1 Calender, Monza!

Formula 1 Gran Premio Santander d’Italia is our stage which is set for Hamilton, Webber, Button, Vettel and alonso to battle it out as the race for the championship continues.

Monza has played host to the GP since 1922 and has always been a battle ground for the greats such as Aryton Senna, Nigel Mansell, Jackie Stewart and Michael Schumacher.

Monza is an anti-clockwise track, is 5.793km in length and the F1 race consists of 53 laps.

Rubens Barrichello set the fasted lap in 2004 with a time of 1:21.046

Monza is classed as a high speed circuit because of its long straights so many teams run less downforce than most other tracks.

McLaren chief engineer Tim Goss said “Monza will be a strong circuit for us, we have a very aerodynamically efficient car so we think we have a good chance of occupying the front row and challenging for the race win.”

Meanwhile Lewis Hamilton is eager to claim his first win at monza saying “I’ve made no secret of my wish to win this race. Monza is an incredible circuit – full of history and stories from the past. It has a special feeling in the air that you don’t find anywhere else in the world. It’s a circuit that inspires you to race at your limit, and I’ll be pushing hard all weekend.”

Hamilton is leading the Drivers Championship by 3 points after his win in Belgium.

Jenson Button still sounds motivated and optimistic about winning the championship saying “I’m still going into every practice session, qualifying and race with the same hope I can win that race,” whose relaxed style has led some to question his application.

“I know I’m just as passionate about it now as I was last year, and that’s because I don’t think there is a driver here who works any harder than me.”

Mark Webber told BBC Three Counties Radio: “It’s probably not the track we’d choose to go and have 17 races at, but we don’t, we have one. “We can still get some good points there and take the fight to the other fast teams.”

Im looking forward to this race weekend as the battle heats up, i support McLaren, i’d prefer Jenson Button to win but Lewis Hamilton deserves my support aswell, his passion and need to go faster in my opinion gives him the edge over other drivers, and this passion is what spirited-driving is all about.

I hope to see Vettel battling it out with Webber again as its always entertaining and it keeps him away from Button (Who he took out in Belgium,Bad times).

Qualifying starts at 12:10pm Saturday and Coverage of the race starts at the same time sunday on BBC1

Enjoy..

MINI Countryman WRC

The new MINI Countryman World Rally Car completed its first shakedown at Prodrive’s private UK stage in Warwickshire.

The car traveled mostly on tarmac but also did a few kilometres on loose surfaces.

Prodrive’s technical director David Lapworth said ““As with any totally new car, it is vital to take time to ensure all the systems are working as intended before embarking on a week long gravel test.”

The car is now bound for Portugal where Marcus Gronholm is expected to test the MINI on gravel stages.

Personally, I am extremely happy that MINI are coming back into the WRC. After most of the big manufacturers pulled out of the sport a couple years back, we need all the new cars we can get to make The World Rally Championship as entertaining as it once was.

Welcome back  MINI.
