S2000 End Of Month Report – November 2010

Costs this Month: £155.06 (fuel)

Total Milage:  81987

Milage this month: 764

Its been a cold ass month thats for sure, and the snow fall which got my car stuck in the middle of the night was no fun. Other than the excessive slip in the snow where the tires have no grip what so ever! there is nothing else to report as the car is running fine and has’nt missed a beat.

Honda S2000 Diary (27/11/2010) – Snow

Today I finished work early due to snow. I love driving in snow, especially in a rear wheel drive car. What I fear is getting stuck which is what FR cars are known for when it comes to driving in the snow. Instantly coming onto the main road from work the car power slides out and is wonderfully controllable even with little grip. But I only cared about getting home, not snow drifting. So my main priorities was making sure to climb the hills and not get stuck. Been careful on the throttle and choosing the right gear got me home ok. If the snow had of been any deeper though, I’m pretty sure I would have been abandoned somewhere.

S2000 Diary 17/11/2010 – Paid my parking ticket

Yes I was fined back on the 5th of November for parking outside my own home just because I forgot to put the permit in the window. Kirklees council don’t care if I am allowed to park there or not, all they care about is wether I had the permit in the window or not, which I did’nt, so they can legally take my money, and that is what they actually do care about.

Well screw you Kirklees Council I am now going to the solicitors for the drain you made me crash over and I think that will cost you alittle more than £35, its fun been petty isn’t it.

Also now that I have that rant over, that puncture I had other day… It seems I have a very slow puncture. More money going out. Funny thing is that was probably caused due to the sorry state the roads are in Kirklees. All my outgoing costs are due to them!

S2000 Diary – 13/11/2010 – Puncture on Snake’s Pass

My nan came to me today and asked if I wanted to have a drive to Snakes Pass. I’ve trained her well. The low winter sun was blinding on nearly every turn and the handling was abit off. In fact the drive up to home moss was terrible, the steering was slightly off center and every gear change had the rear moving about. I figured either the road was really slippery due to the wet leaves which littered the way, or someone had stole a drive when I was asleep and knocked the steering out of alignment. After about 25 miles it got so bad I stopped and checked the car.

The result was a puncture at the rear left. It was almost completely flat, but I had just passed a garage in Glossop a few miles back and luckily I got there ok. Outside the air pump the tyre was on its sidewalls. The guy who was using the pump before me had blown his tyre’s up to 54psi, obviously I knocked it down to 32psi and filled the flat back up. I tried to get a measure on how fast the wheel was losing air, luckily there was a open tyre depot in eyes sight if I needed a new one there and then. I checked the other tyres, and drove straight home before it could go down again.

The handling was back to a level where it was a joy to tackle the country roads, but obviously I had to be reserved and not be too stupid. I was always aware of the condition of the tyre, and thankfully it got me home. The Snake Pass run will have to wait for another day, but for now I need a new tyre.

S2000 Diary 05/11/2010 – Bon Fire Night

This post isn’t nothing to do with Bonfire night but it is the 5th of November so I find it fitting. Anyway getting back to S2000 related matters – my first parking ticket! For parking outside my own house. £35 gone. To be fair it is getting close to Christmas, and I know them parking officers need a little extra cash for there parking officer babies and homes before Santa comes. Ok rant over.

Rant number two

Luke as a camera man! We went to do alittle filming to get a few test shots for a up and coming video. To be fair when we got to the location the heavens opened and it was soon looking like a scene from the end of Matrix Revolutions. My main beef was when coming home, Luke was faffing about with his uber technological advanced phone. At least if we stumble upon anything worth recording he should be able to record it, right?

Wrong, all I wanted Luke to do was record a giant cow that was calmly walking along the center of the road. That video would accompany this post which would stop it from been a heap of boring text. But his phone took sooooo long and then when it did finallywork, it did’nt work correctly.
