Vauxhaul VXR220

In the spirit of the VXR Festival this weekend at Silverstone, i have decided to take another look at one of my personal favorite supercar killers..

The VXR220.
Unfortunately i have not had the opportunity to drive one, and its one of my favourites because i think it is everything a sports car should be, lightweight Mid engine rear wheel drive, what more could you need for ultimate driving thrills?

VXR brand manager Stuart Harris said: ‘We want to make cars that are as much fun at 50mph as they are at 150, cars that you know are going to be fun after driving just 100 yards down the road.’

The VXR220 comes with an In-line 4-cyl, 1998cc Turbocharged Engine, 217bhp (220ps), 210lb ft of Torque, a 0 – 60mph time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 153mph.
Putting the power down is 5 spoke Speedline alloys in Satin Black with Yokohama A048R tyres to make the most of its poise and agility, which comes from uprated and lowered springs and uprated dampers.

All this speed is brought to a stop by vented and cross-drilled brakes 288mm all round with uprated brake pad material.
The VXR220 still looks modern with clean lines, matt black detailing on the rear spoiler, mirrors, windscreen surround, and Vauxhaul’s V grille it looks truely devilish.

Unfortunately only 60 was built at 30k each back in May 2004 and all sold out almost instantly.

In my eye’s this car wont ever age, its everything i want from a sports car, and i’ll let you know if i get to drive one this weekend.

It’s only fair

Well Dale posted his photos of his broken MR2, so i suppose its only fair that i post mine.

It still hurts to look at the pictures but incase anyones wondering, thats what happens when you approach a round about too fast, with slightly faulty breaks and damp conditions.

The Mr2 can be great, it was great, as was Dale’s, but the moment you push a little too hard or lapse in concentration it punishes you hard.. be warned

Type-R civic (EP3) Vs Peugeot 306

The last video revealed how quick the 306 was going up hill on Buckstone pass. Using some of the only footage of the Type-R we have, we can compare the two. I know its a rather  random section of the road and it seems weird timing the run using a post and a patch of gravel as the start/finish marker. But this is due to the fact that we only had  footage of the Type-R in-between these two points.

Chris’s 306 flying uphill on Buckstone Pass

Here is the first and last video of Chris’s 306 At the famous Buckstone going uphill at night. I’ll do a video showing the diffrents between the 306 and Type-R shortly.
