Preview of the VXR Power festival

Good and bad news to report about the VXR fest this Sunday. I haven’t had the time, and due to been awake soo long I don’t have the energy to get everything up on the site just yet. Me, Chris and my Dad had a fun drive down to Silverstone and once within a few miles radius of the track started to see some awesome cars. Once payed and in there was a whole lot to see and do, with a full race event between the BTCC driver, celebrities and amateurs. Like I said, pictures videos and details of how the day unfolded will be up later, or more like tomorrow once I have some spare time. Chris might treat you all to some thing, Im not sure, he disappeared today without even saying goodbye so your guess is as good as mine. But I do have something! A preview, oh yes indeed.

Vauxhaul VXR220

In the spirit of the VXR Festival this weekend at Silverstone, i have decided to take another look at one of my personal favorite supercar killers..

The VXR220.
Unfortunately i have not had the opportunity to drive one, and its one of my favourites because i think it is everything a sports car should be, lightweight Mid engine rear wheel drive, what more could you need for ultimate driving thrills?

VXR brand manager Stuart Harris said: ‘We want to make cars that are as much fun at 50mph as they are at 150, cars that you know are going to be fun after driving just 100 yards down the road.’

The VXR220 comes with an In-line 4-cyl, 1998cc Turbocharged Engine, 217bhp (220ps), 210lb ft of Torque, a 0 – 60mph time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 153mph.
Putting the power down is 5 spoke Speedline alloys in Satin Black with Yokohama A048R tyres to make the most of its poise and agility, which comes from uprated and lowered springs and uprated dampers.

All this speed is brought to a stop by vented and cross-drilled brakes 288mm all round with uprated brake pad material.
The VXR220 still looks modern with clean lines, matt black detailing on the rear spoiler, mirrors, windscreen surround, and Vauxhaul’s V grille it looks truely devilish.

Unfortunately only 60 was built at 30k each back in May 2004 and all sold out almost instantly.

In my eye’s this car wont ever age, its everything i want from a sports car, and i’ll let you know if i get to drive one this weekend.

VXR Power Fest

This up coming weekend Silverstone are hosting the VXR Festival. It is a hugh event where all VXR fans can drive, be driven and watch professionals such as Tom Chilton attack the Silverstone circuit or watch Paul Swift do his precision driving. Every VXR model will be there including the latest Insignia VXR including clubs and tuning companies whom will be showing off there products. There’s plenty more and prices are fairly cheap at £10 for one day or £15 for both Saturday and Sunday.

I will be there and am most looking forward to the Pro vs  Amateur race. I will be taking the HD camera and will try to get inside a VXR and show them BTCC drivers how its done :)

I was browsing amongst my usual array of car sites and came across this video below. Not only does it feature my favorite car. There shots, editing and artistry is amazing. A true driver must have made this video, and when Senna starts speaking it just moved me. Check it out!!

Abit of a update

Today www.Spirited-Driving.com has been given abit of a refresh. Its abit brighter and cleaner looking. A Few new features like the Tweet button at the bottom of each page so you can tweet away about the site. This combined with the other updates recently like the video player and picture gallery make for a much better experience. Also Id like to welcome a new blogger aboard who has joined us. He’s a completely qualified car enthusiast, owning such cars as MR2′s Zetec’s and even a mini if I recall. Not to mention hes a pretty good driver to boot. I have no doubt he will be a interesting addition to Spirited-Driving.com
